The Fashion Pigeon
The Fashion Pigeon
After graduating from the London College of Printing with a BA in Journalism, Henry Holland was catapulted into the fashion limelight in 2006 with his irreverent ‘Fashion Groupies’ slogan tees featuring catchphrases such as “UHU Gareth Pugh” and “Get Your Freak On Giles Deacon”.
In February 2008, after 2 seasons showing with Fashion East, House of Holland held its first solo show on the main Fashion Week schedule to critical acclaim with the brand consequently winning the ‘Best Use of Tartan Award’ at the Scottish Fashion Awards.
Henry designs with a London girl aesthetic in mind and is continually inspired by the variety of attitudes, cultures and mindsets that exist throughout the UK capital. The House of Holland girl is cool, confident and savvy and wears labels without letting them wear her.
Firmly established in the international fashion scene, House of Holland now boasts an impressive roster of international premium stockists including Browns Focus, Selfridges, Harvey Nichols, Colette and Opening Ceremony.

This past weekend I attended the Fete de la Musique in Melville and had a total blast! You can read the article on Kasi Times. Being surrounded by happy people does wonders for the soul and the body! People were not just feeling good but looking even better. Here are a few of the fashionably fabulous people I encountered.
Nombu and Nkokhi showing us how to rock the latest trends with an African twist. Round frame shades, vintage leather sling bags, tribal prints and Doc Martins, yup, these ladies have it on lock.
Classic demin jacket with tribal prints… topped off with a cool neckpiece. Good one, Mqobi.
My eyes instantly went straight to Roxane’s feet: colour blocking still looks great when done right.
Rust leather sneakers (left) paired with baggy distressed jeans, real nice and these African print pants (right) are too dope.
JoziChic LoVeS these shoes. The bright colours, the African material used and the ankle length make them an awesome alternative to boring leather ankle boots. Available at MSC Boutique.
I kept it simple with a punk shirt, blazer and jeggings. Melville decided to
accessorize me, thanks!
And Jozichic’s Street Style of the Moment goes to…
Looking foward to hitting the Jozi streets once more… Stay stylin’, fresh and of course, Jozi Chic…
Lotsa Chic Lovin’
I cast aside all fears of running in heels and ran after this stylin’ woman… and yup, it was worth it. First thing I noticed were her awesome vintage style cowboy boots and matching leather handbag. Then after the first few pics Lauryn (“as in Lauryn Hill” she informed me) unbuttoned her blazer to reveal even more leather! “You have to get this; I love it so much… It was really cool when I bought it. It had metal skulls but those fell off over the years.” This ‘it’ Lauryn was referring to is her 5-year old belt, bought at Relay. I must say, I’m loving this fashion-brave chick; rocking cowboy boots and shorts in the Joburg CBD! And considering how windy it was today, she picked out the perfect outfit.
This past weekend saw The CocaCola Dome packed with thousands of Lil’ Wayne fans… Here are a few of those swankin’ peeps I spotted… Enjoy!
